Well...to be precise Discord, bell flowers mean "Gratitude", but hey, semantics.

I wanted this to be up and finished last week. But then English projects happened again. And memorizing for drama festivals. Still not off script, and I'm preforming on Wednesday... X_x

But all of that doesn't matter because friendshipping~! :heart: Seriously, when I first saw last weeks episode, I was all like: "meh", which kind of surprised me because I'm a hopeless Discord fangirl. But then I thought about it for awhile and watched it again, and I was all like: "FEELS".

So, I decided to play around with coloring on this one. Honestly, it's actually looking pretty okay, imo. (At least, for something I've done. Watch it be spectacularly ruined by the time it's finished.) Feel free to leave any critique if you have some.

I'm glad you warmed up to that episode, I really loved the story and the relationship that Discord and Fluttershy have established. There were actually quite a few subtle events that occurred, so I think it's clear the writers gave it a lot of thought.

Discord said no one had ever considered him a friend before (including Celestia?), so the impact of that statement alone hit him hard. Being the volatile creature of chaos that he is, changes were happening within his heart quickly after that, and he seemed like he wasn't quite sure what to make of it. He tried to continue with his deception and his return to, but interestingly, he tried to include Fluttershy in his "fun." When she refused, it was an especially good touch to see him talk himself into a new perspective. His overall performance was brilliant and hilarious and feelsy, no doubt about it.

And man, Fluttershy was great, the most in character I've seen her in a long time. An alternate title could very well have been "The Return of Kindness". Fantastic episode, it's one I'll be happy to rewatch again and again.

And by the way, I really like the way this is turning out, I'm looking forward to the finished product! :)

Agreed. I think that turning Discord back to stone would have been a serious waste of his character. Allowing him to walk around freely and interact with the other characters gives him the opportunity to develop more as a character himself, instead of simply being a more malicious version of Q from Star Trek. (Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's why I love the character in the first place.) It's not like they couldn't do that and still have him be evil, but being in stone makes that rather difficult.

I also love that the writers chose Fluttershy to be the reformer, so to speak. She was a great foil to Discord and overall she was absolutely fantastic in this episode, in my opinion. Her standing up to him at the end was really great to see; just to show how far she's come from season one.

Dramatic irony was actually a key factor in my appreciation for this episode. It really helped me to pick up on the subtle things tossed into it. On the first viewing, I hadn't really picked up on the ways Discord treated Fluttershy as his friend; or even the fact that even he hadn't noticed until that friendship was in jeopardy. Their friendship would be a really neat relationship to explore in future episodes, and I'm really looking forward to it.

And thank you! I hope to have it finished by this weekend.

Why Fluttreshy is blue-yellow?

It's the background that's blue; I just hadn't finished coloring her when I posted this. ^^;

damit, Discord couldn't have reformed, it only happened because Discord fans wanted it.

Hard to say. Apparently, Keep Calm and Flutter On was pitched only a few days after Return of Harmony aired. And not every Discord fan liked him being reformed.

Even so, if the writers wanted to use Discord as a recurring character (and why would they want to waste such a fun character?), then keeping him evil and in stone would have made it very difficult. The most they could get out of that would probably be a flashback episode.

it just isn't consistent, last time, he was portrayed as a soulless monster. I don't care if that wasn't the intent, that's what they ended up presenting him as.

I saw him more as a sadistic child. Granted this is me possibly seeing the more chaotic neutral "Q" from Star Trek in him. But if you took away his powers, he'd probably turn into a sulking child.
